History

The Twoism forum is an online discussion board devoted to the music of Boards of Canada. Originally created by user Chyld on November 25, 2004, the board has grown to comprise over 400 members, primarily concentrated in Europe and North America.

Although sometimes not taken seriously in the online IDM community at large, the Twoism forum gained a great deal of notoriety during the infamous Red Moon episode, in which record numbers of users from a variety of boards joined the page trying to make sense of the Red Moon code. Although there was no success in determining the Red Moon party’s location, Twoism has continued to be a significant source of information and discussion concerning Boards of Canada.

In addition to Twoism’s Boards of Canada discussion forum, another forum, “This Random Sound,” was created to discuss music in general. Over the course of time, many artists found Twoism a hospitable place to share their work, eventually resulting in a compilation, One on Twoism, representing the collective contributions of a number of the board’s musical and visual artists.

In June 2007, following a series of bandwidth problems, Twoism was moved from its original domain (http://barneum.com/twoism) to its current location at http://www.twoism.org. It has been divided into a number of subforums, one of which is dedicated entirely to the One on Twoism compilation series. The board is currently administered by user Aesthetics.

On February 29, 2008, One on Twoism Volume 2 saw official release in mp3, flac, and CD formats.
