one very important thought
  • It would be wise to remember that the same people who would stop you from listening to Boards of Canada may be back next year to complain about a book or even a tv program. If you can be told what you can see or read then it follows that you can be told what to say or think. Defend your constitutionally protected rights, no one else will do it for you. sopastrike.com

In an interview with Rene Passet, Boards of Canada explained that "The Color of the Fire" "was a reference to a friend's psychedelic experience." (Forcefield 1998)

The vocal sample in this track was sampled from a Sesame Street vignette in which a child sounds out the phrase "I love you" while attempting to write it out.

Segments of the track were used to promote the Nissan Primera "Statistics" advert directed by Chris Cunningham.
