Comments[edit]
- [Plaster] tells me that the original title of the diary of Anne Frank was "The Annexe", named after the house in which she lived, "The Secret Annexe"[1]. He also mentions that The Annex is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Canada.[2]
Samples/Lyrics[edit]
- In this Twoism thread[3] the sample source of the singing children was discovered. The singing is a slight variation of the Jenny Jones poem. The actual song they sampled is A40 "I've Come To See Your Janie Jonies" on this 1983's Children's Singing Games compilation.[4] You can hear it at 1:59 in this Spotify player.
Jenny Jones (poem)[edit]
Please, we've come to see Jenny Jones, Jenny Jones, Jenny Jones;
Please, we've come to see Jenny Jones,
And how is she today?
Jenny, she is dead, dead, dead;You cannot see her today.
What color is she going to be buried in?
Red.
Red is for danger, danger, danger;Red is for danger, so that won't do.
White.
White is for angels, angels, angels;White is for angels, so that will do.
Ding, dong,The castle bells,
Ringing for me;
I'll be buried in the old churchyard
Beneath the great yew tree.
Trivia[edit]
- In carnival slang, an annex refers to "the area of a sideshow joint where the blowoff is located."[5]
