We Are The Music Makers is a website about electronic music run by Joyrex.

Features

The site features sections on 5 featured electronic artists: Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards of Canada, µ-Ziq and Squarepusher. These mostly contain of news items.

The other main feature of WATMM is its forums, found at forum.watmm.com. The forum is divided into two sections: General Banter, for general discussion of releases, artists, and other wildly off-topic things, and EKT (Export Knob Twiddler), a forum for aspiring artists to discussion techniques and share their creations.

History

The site started as joyrex.com, a fan site about Aphex Twin. The name of the site, also used as the pseudonym of its webmaster, was taken from a series of Aphex Twin releases. As the site gained popularity, Joyrex renamed the site over concerns that it could be mistaken for an official site. The new name was named "We Are The Music Makers", after an Aphex Twin track of the same title, and the new domain name was watmm.com.

The site expanded further beyond Aphex Twin in ????, when sections on two other artists were added, Autechre and Boards of Canada.

In 2004 (2005?), the scope of the site was further increased when sections for µ-Ziq and Squarepusher were also added.

In the past, the artist sections were much richer than they are today, containing images, articles, inteviews, recordings and videos. They were taken down in 2003? for a redesign. For a long period, there was nothing on the site at all aside from the forums. There are now artists sections once again, but they consist primarily of news items.
