"Arena Americanada" is the fifteenth track on Boards of Canada's fifth studio album, Inferno.

Comments

  • "Americanada" is a portmanteau of America and Canada.
    • It can also be read as a combination of America and "nada", the latter word being Spanish for "nothing".[1]
  • The jingle in the outro of the track is slightly reminiscent of the Cosecha jingle at the end of "New Seeds".
  • The title Arena Americanada may be a reference to the Scotiabank Saddledome, which is an arena located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, which the father of the sandison brothers had helped work on the construction of the arena in the early 1980s.[2]
  • The synth bass that appears in this track from 0:55 onwards is reused from "Hydrogen Helium Lithium Leviathan" at 2:58, from earlier on the album.

Samples / Lyrics

  • During the fade-out a recording of what seems to be the sea along with occasional seagull calls can be heard.
  • There is the faint sound of a crowd of people cheering and whistling present most of the song, the cheering may have been sampled from track 12 of the album “He’s Able” by The People’s Temple Choir, the album was released in 1973, meanwhile the twelfth track was released in 1998 and was pieced together using released tapes by the FCC, including part of the so-called “Death Tape”

Trivia

  • Arena Americanada is played in 60Hz, which is the utility frequency in the Americas and parts of Asia.
