• In Tibetan Buddhism, the moment of death is described (in the Bardo Thödol, the "Tibetan Book of the Dead") as a dissolution of the skandhas — including memory. "Memory death" as a title compresses this teaching: the liquidation of the store of past impressions as a precondition for rebirth.
• Mike Sandison has described Geogaddi as "exorcising demons" and as concerning "brainwashing and memory loss". Inferno returns explicitly to that strand.
• Pairs with "You Retreat In Time And Space" (retreat as contemplative practice) and "Acts Of Magic" (ritual) on the album's contemplative / inner-practice axis.
