"Age Of Capricorn" is the fourth track on Boards of Canada's fifth studio album, Inferno.

Comments

• The "age of Capricorn", to followers of astrology, is an upcoming astrological age that will follow the current "age of Aquarius" and begin around the year 4000 AD. Astrologists theorise that humans, by this time, will be "born clairvoyant" and that the concept of death will disappear as humans "will be in constant contact with the worlds beyond."

• The mentions of "Mabus" likely refer to the writings of famed astrologer and seer Nostradamus. Followers of Nostradamus claim that the name "Mabus" refers to the Antichrist, and several attempts have been made to link this name with well-known figures, from Barack Obama to Osama Bin Laden. The sample of a man rearranging the letters of "Usama" to "M a a u s" then to "Mabus" is almost certainly a reference to this.

Samples / Lyrics

• From 0:49 onwards, a Nostradamus prophecy theorist (potentially John Hogue) performing anagrammatic analysis on the name "Mabus", linking Osama Bin Laden through an alternative spelling "Usama".

Mabus, Mabus

• From 1:25 onwards, call and response choral singing, sampled from Door of My Heart (A Chant by Paramhansa Yogananda)

Just for once, come to me
I look for Thee night and day

• From 1:58, a prayer from the end of televangelist Jack Van Impe's 1990 video tape "A.D. 2000: The End?".

I am a sinner
All have sinned
You bore my sin
You shed Your blood for me
To cleanse me
I receive You
And Your shed blood
For the remission of my sins
Come into my heart
Save me now
Help me to be ready for Your return

In Your name, I pray this

• At 2:55 and 3:16, a deep raspy voice, possibly TTS, saying "Capricorn".

Trivia

• This is the third track in Boards of Canada's discography that is named after a zodiac symbol, after "Aquarius" and "Gemini".
