The Peel Session was recorded especially for the John Peel Radio Programme on BBC Radio 1. The peel session was recorded in-part for John Peel's show 16th June 1998 and was broadcast in it's entirety 21st July 1998. The recording track list as follows:

- "XYZ" was the only track broadcast live on 16th June 1998 with John Peel talking with Boards Of Canada briefly before their performance.
- When the Peel Session EP was released by Warp in 1999, the only recordings from the session included were "Aquarius (Version 3)" and "Olson (Version 3)". "XYZ" was omitted due to sample licensing issues, while the version of "Happy Cycling" from the session (often known as "Bad Day") was replaced by the studio version of the track, which appeared on the US Matador release of Music Has The Right To Children. It is generally believed that "Bad Day" was omitted from the release due to Boards of Canada's dissatisfaction with the take.

Unreleased 2004 Peel Session[edit]
According to Mike Sandison, Boards of Canada were scheduled for a second Peel Session in 2004, however John Peel died before it happened. It is unclear if the recording sessions for this ever took place; in any case, any recordings that might exist remain unreleased.[1]
