Naraka
Running time 5:01
Appears on Inferno (2026)

Prev Somewhere Right Now In The Future

"Naraka" is the seventh track on Boards of Canada's fifth studio album, Inferno.

Comments

  • "Naraka" is the Hindu place for the expiration of sins after death, roughly corresponding to the Christian concept of hell (or perhaps purgatory).[1]
  • Naraka is structurally similar to “Palace Posy” from Boards of Canada’s 2013 album Tomorrow’s Harvest, with a first half that starts immediately with no intro followed by a second half that heavily involves chanting.

Samples / Lyrics

हरे कृष्ण हरे कृष्ण
कृष्ण कृष्ण हरे हरे
हरे राम हरे राम
राम राम हरे हरे

("Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna,
Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare"
Hare Rama, Hare Rama
Rama Rama, Hare Hare")

  • The wind-like noise starting at 3:12 that can be heard alongside the Hindu Chanting, is sampled from the intro of the 1975 track “Shine on You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI–IX)” by Pink Floyd.
