Autechre are an electronic music duo from Rochdale, who are often categorized with Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Luke Vibert, Boards of Canada and others as being key artists within the (rather fuzzily defined) IDM genre.

Facts[edit]

  • Are also signed to Warp Records.
  • Instrumental in the founding of the label SKAM.
  • Autechre's Sean Booth provided the recording of a child's voice reading numbers from a numbers station to Boards of Canada for the track "Gyroscope".
  • According to Sean Booth, there exists an unreleased cover that Boards of Canada made of the Autechre track "Cichli".

Theories[edit]

  • It could be argued that Autechre have been instrumental in the success of Boards of Canada.

Trivia[edit]

  • Sean Booth made a humorous remark when asked about BoC's whereabouts during a 5-hour AMA on Twitch[1]:
"I don't know where Boards of Canada are...they're probably in the future somewhere, worrying about why it isn't like the past."
