"All Reason Departs" is the fourteenth track on Boards of Canada's fifth studio album, Inferno.

Comments

• The progression on this track is similar to “An Eagle in Your Mind” on Music Has The Right To Children.
• The Second part of the track may have been inspired or influenced by the track, Make Some Room by Sade.

Samples / Lyrics

• From 0:28, a reading of a passage written by occultist Aleister Crowley from "Magick, Liber ABA, Book 4" (Part III: Magick in Theory and Practice, Chapter XII: Of the Bloody Sacrifice: and Matters Cognate), sampled from the 2005 documentary "Megiddo II: The New Age".^[1][2]

There is a magical operation of maximum importance
The Initiation of a New Aeon
Before man is ready to accept the Law of Thelema, the Great War must be fought
This bloody sacrifice is the critical point of the World Ceremony of the Crowned and Conquering Child
As lord of the Aeon

• From 0:41 to 1:12, what seems to be a muffled sample of a Buddhist chant can be heard, alongside the sample of the Crowley passage.
• At 5:33, a highly obfuscated voice can be heard, although it’s currently unknown what the voice is saying.

Trivia

• The glitching background noise that can be heard in "Deep Time" continues into the beginning of the track before fading.
• The melody starting at 1:12 is reminiscent of the melody in "Deep Time".
