• Introit' is the opening chant of a Catholic Mass — the prayer sung or recited as the priest processes into the sanctuary. As Infernos first track (0:36), it frames the whole album as a liturgical act — the listener enters the space as if entering a Mass, or, following the album's title, the gate of Dante's Inferno.
• The first word of the Introit proper in the traditional Latin Mass is Introibo — "I will go in." Inferno likewise opens with an act of entry.
• Sits with "Father And Son" and "The Word Becomes Flesh" as the album's explicitly Christian-liturgical triad.
