- Autechre and Bawds Of Canada The Venue, Calton Road, 557 3073. 9pm. £5. Weird, tripped-out experimental electronica from Autechre, a duo hailing from Manchester who have released material on Sheffield's pioneering Warp label. Their music exists somewhere between ambient and industrial and if that sounds like a scary prospect then that's about right. With support from DJ Surgeon and local act Think Tank.[1]
Tracks[edit]
- According to the recollection of a former associate of the band who claims to have attended this event, Boards of Canada played "most of the Boc Maxima tracks and some Music Has the Right to Children tracks". They also mention "Original Nlogax" specifically in response to further inquiry into the setlist. It is unclear which tracks from these releases would have been played; however, in response to the suggestion of "Nlogax", "June 9th", "Chinook", and "Whitewater" they gave a vaguely affirmative "yep".

I remember the night well as I was a bit cheeky with an ex making an excuse to go for a drink just outside the club where it was, we lived close by and said to her "lets see what it's like and if you don't we can head home".
BoC were better than Autechre, they were more dancier, maybe not 4 by 4 but much more upbeat than AE.
I've no idea if £5 felt like a lot of money back then 🤣[2]
