Catalog 3 is Boards of Canada's earliest known release. The use of the name Catalog 3 could imply the existence of two prior releases. It should be noted that the name of the album is Catalog 3, while the catalog number (for the fledgling Music70 label the band self-released their music on) is CANC19, alluding to the original cassette format. It is unknown if the CD repress in 1997 has a different catalog number.
It was originally a cassette, but was repressed on CD in 1997 [1] [2].
The album has not been heard by those outside of the band's friends and family.
The albums cover contains morse code, which when decodes reads "DECODE MORSE".
