Date 14th October 2000
Organiser Warp Records
Availability Audience recording (partial)

Live @ Lighthouse is a collection of songs recorded during the performance of Boards of Canada at The Incredible Warp Lighthouse Party on October 14th 2000. These recordings were not formally released by Boards of Canada. A soundboard recording of Julie and Candy from this show, along with video shown during the performance, was uploaded to Youtube in 2009.

As with all Boards of Canada's recorded live work, unreleased material was performed. Of the known part of the setlist, only two tracks, "Sixtyten" and "Everything You Do Is A Balloon", were publicly available at the time. "In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country" and "Amo Bishop Roden" were both released on the EP In a Beautiful Place out in the Country the following month, while "1969" and "Julie And Candy" were released on Geogaddi in 2002. One track, "Spiro", remains unreleased, although a sped-up 1.8 second snippet was released as a locked-groove on the Warp20 (Infinite) compilation.

Tracks[edit]

  1. "Sixtyten (Incomplete)" – 2:17
  2. "1969"1 – 5:48
  3. "Spiro"2 – 7:07
  4. "In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country"1 – 4:43
  5. "Amo Bishop Roden"1 – 5:57
  6. "Everything You Do Is A Balloon" – 5:30
  7. "Julie And Candy"1 – 5:57

1: Unreleased at time of show
2: Unreleased as of current date, but a sped-up 1.8 second snippet is included on side I of the Warp20 (Infinite) locked-groove 10" vinyl

Location[edit]

The event took place at Trinity Buoy Wharf in the Chainstore building.

Trivia[edit]

  • Four large CRT monitors were included in Boards of Canada's setup in order to display their visuals - two located on the left and two on the right, respectively.
  • The monitor furthest to the left exploded during "Sixtyten".
  • Mike and Marcus referenced this incident in the Boards of The Underground interview.
It's one of the reasons we don't like playing live, you worry about who might be in the audience, scouting for ideas.
The monitors exploded in the middle of the set, people were cheering because they thought it was deliberate pyrotechnics!
  • The former is likely why the live recording started mid-way through "Sixtyten" instead of the beginning.
