Live @ ATP is a collection of the songs played during the performance of Boards of Canada at the 2001 All Tomorrow's Parties. Although unofficial and never released by Boards of Canada, they can be found widely on file-sharing networks in their complete form.

As with all of Boards of Canada's recorded live performances, unreleased material was played. At the time of the performance only three of the tracks performed were publicly available, those being "Sixtyten", "Happy Cycling", and "In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country". "Sunshine Recorder" and "Julie And Candy" were subsequently released on Geogaddi in 2002, while the other seven performed tracks remain unreleased. Some of these tracks, such as "Echus" and "ATP-07", have become fan favourites despite not being officially released.

All Tomorrow's Parties is an annual music festival. The 2001 edition, curated by Tortoise, took place at Camber Sands Holiday Centre, New Lydd Road, Camber Rye, East Sussex from April 6 through April 8. Boards of Canada performed on April 7th.

A recording of "Julie And Candy" from the set, seemingly made direct from the soundboard, has also surfaced via YouTube. An attendee to ATP has said the video actually contains the same visuals projected/shown in the performance shown below.[2] The song was posted by user AtalantaFugiens. The source for the audio and video is unknown, but the video is on the favorites list of the official BoC YouTube account.

jbible

An audience recording of the show was made widely available via P2P networks. Unfortunately, the quality is low, with heavy distortion in the lower frequencies.[3]

On December 6, 2004, in the WATMM thread "Aphex Twin @ ATP", jbible mentioned that he was the one who had recorded BoC's performance. He provided some additional information about the recording:

Security

"Wasnt easy. I sewed the recorder into my jacket and microphone down the inside of my sleeve. They were being real crazy about recordings and cameras....they had security taking discs and film. Pointing flashlights at people taking pictures."

Quality

Yeah I know the quality gets bad...I think it may have been a mix of being to close to the speaker and they seemed to get louder as the show went on. I had just purchased my MD right before my trip to Europe so it may have been a lack of experience with it as well. I got the AE set as well as some clips from some of the other performances. I think I still have the master MD's somewhere. Might be able to retransfer it and remaster eventually.

Show

"At the time BOC was the highlight for me...since I had never seen them before...nor since. It was right after IABPOITC came out. My first time to EU. Day after I recorded the set I took a walk through the actual BPOITC that surrounded the festival venue and listened to the set. It was quite surreal."

terekhova

On July 4, 2009, a new user named terekhova came forth on the Twoism forum with a partial recording he made at this show. While this upload of his recording consisted of only two tracks, it has significantly better sound quality.[4]

On March 26, 2026, terekhova uploaded a photograph of the MiniDisc he had recorded the ATP show on, and on April 8, 2026 he uploaded a new recording from the MiniDisc containing most of Sixtyten and the seven other tracks to the end of the show.

"I tracked down a Tascam MD-301 MKII MD player and captured what I found on the disc via a MOTU M4 into Audacity @ 48kHz 24bit."

Track listing (original 2009 upload)

  1. "Julie And Candy" – (6:21)
This is the same as track 8 in jbible's recording
  2. Unknown – (8:09)
This is the same as track 7 in jbible's recording

Track listing (2026 upload)

  1. ATP Track 05 - Sixtyten (excerpt)
  2. ATP Track 06 - Unknown
  3. ATP Track 07 - Unknown
  4. ATP Track 08 - Julie and Candy
  5. ATP Track 09 - Unknown
  6. ATP Track 10 - Happy Cycling
  7. ATP Track 11 - Unknown
  8. ATP Track 12 - In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country

I tracked down a Tascam MD-301 MKII MD player and captured what I found on the disc via a MOTU M4 into Audacity @ 48kHz 24bit.

There were a few more tracks. I started recording during track 5 (Sixtyten) and recorded from then until the end.

There's a bunch of microphone noise at times - this isn't a pristine recording - but I'm glad to finally hear it again after all this time. The files are completely unprocessed and available below as a 666mb download. (download) [5]

Location

"I was further back than the guy who did the recording that has been doing the rounds, just to the left of the sounddesk, and the sound is pretty good.

Equipment

"It was a tiny Stereo Electret mic borrowed from a mate. I'd brought a bigger Sony minidisc mic along to that ATP but it was a little obvious and his smaller microphone was easier to hide. I think it was an Aiwa mic that came with his MD recorder (something like this one)."
