In an interview with Rene Passet, Boards of Canada explained that "The Color of the Fire" was a reference to a friend's psychedelic experience.[1]
One of the main melodies is lifted from a section of the song Dutch Flats from this Soper Sound Music Library release.[2]
Samples / Lyrics
The vocal sample in this track was sampled from a Sesame Street vignette in which a child sounds out the phrase "I love you" while attempting to write it out. The end of this sample is also used in the track "Niagara" from the BoC Maxima tape.
